AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt

Encrypt a note with a password and decrypt authenticated output from the same format.

PRACTICAL WORKFLOW

AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt: inputs, results and limitations

Encrypt a note with a password and decrypt authenticated output from the same format.

How to use AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt

  1. Paste your text or use the example to inspect the operation.
  2. Review the options before running: Operation: encrypt · Password (at least 12 characters): your private password, not stored
  3. Inspect the preview or result, then download a new file.

An illustrative use case

A private note encrypted and then decrypted with the same password.

Sample input

Private note

What to inspect in the output

Keep the complete exported ciphertext and a secure copy of the password. Random salt and IV mean repeated encryption can produce different ciphertext for the same text.

Where this tool stops

Password-based PBKDF2 (250,000 iterations), random salt and IV. Keep your password safe; there is no recovery.

Troubleshooting AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt

Do not paste production secrets into a shared computer. For image-based codes, use a sharp, unobstructed source; for hashes, compare exact input bytes; for encryption, preserve the whole exported package.

Questions about AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt

Why is the encrypted text different every time?

Fresh randomness is used for each encryption. Decryption needs the saved encrypted package and the exact password; there is no recovery path.

What input does AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt need?

Use the sample text shown below, then replace it with your own input. Password-based PBKDF2 (250,000 iterations), random salt and IV. Keep your password safe; there is no recovery.

Which options does AES-GCM text encrypt/decrypt provide?

Operation, Password (at least 12 characters). Review the starting values in the table and adjust them for your input.

Your original input is preserved. Review the new output before using it in a published page, customer delivery or production workflow.
